Celtic Armorique
This is the little-known people who saw the first Celts arrive in Amorique in the 6th century BC, having travelled westwards from central Europe. They finally settled on the peninsular in the 4th Century BC, and named it Ar Mor the land before the sea.
They divided themselves into 5 major tribes: the Osimes to the west, the Coriosolites and the Redons to the north and east, the Vénétes and the Namnétes to the south. The Gauls from Amorique formed a kind of confederation in which the Vénétes gradually prevailed. Their powerful flotilla, their intense commercial activity, and their financial power meant that they were able to resist Roman Invasion in 57BC.
